What is it used for?
Used to prevent or treat iron and folic acid deficiency, which can contribute to iron-deficiency anaemia. It also provides zinc supplementation when these nutrients are needed.

How does it work?
Iron helps the body make haemoglobin for carrying oxygen in the blood. Folic acid supports the formation of healthy blood cells, while zinc supports normal immune function and other body processes.

How to take/use it
Take only as directed on the product label or by a healthcare professional. Do not take more than recommended. Iron absorption may be reduced by tea, coffee, milk, calcium supplements or antacids; ask a pharmacist about suitable spacing if using these products.

Common side effects
Nausea, stomach discomfort, constipation, diarrhoea and a metallic taste may occur. Iron may make stools appear dark or black.

Precautions
Do not use iron supplements for unexplained anaemia or iron overload unless advised by a healthcare professional. Keep out of reach of children, as accidental iron overdose can be dangerous.
