What is it used for?
This medicine is used to relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever), such as sneezing, runny or blocked nose, itchy nose, and itchy or watery eyes.

How does it work?
Bilastine is an antihistamine that reduces the effects of histamine, a chemical involved in allergy symptoms. Montelukast blocks leukotrienes, substances that contribute to inflammation and congestion in the airways and nose.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed. Bilastine is generally taken on an empty stomach; follow the product label or prescriber’s instructions, especially regarding food and fruit juice. Do not take more or use it for longer than advised.

Common side effects
Headache, sleepiness or tiredness, dizziness, stomach pain, nausea, or diarrhoea may occur.

Precautions
Montelukast can rarely cause mood or behaviour changes, nightmares, sleep problems, depression, or suicidal thoughts. Stop the medicine and seek medical advice promptly if these occur. Tell the prescriber about liver or kidney problems, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or any previous reaction to these medicines. This medicine is not a rescue treatment for a sudden asthma or breathing attack. Avoid driving or operating machinery if it causes sleepiness or dizziness.
