What is it used for?
This medicine is used for inflamed skin conditions such as eczema or dermatitis when there is also a bacterial skin infection. It helps reduce redness, swelling, itching and bacterial infection.

How does it work?
Betamethasone is a corticosteroid that reduces skin inflammation and itching. Neomycin is an antibiotic that helps control susceptible bacteria on the skin.

How to take/use it
For external use only. Apply a thin layer to the affected skin exactly as directed by a doctor or pharmacist. Wash hands before and after use, unless the hands are being treated. Avoid covering the area with a tight dressing unless advised by a healthcare professional.

Common side effects
Mild burning, irritation, itching or redness may occur. Prolonged or repeated use may cause skin thinning, stretch marks or changes in skin colour. Neomycin may cause an allergic skin reaction.

Precautions
Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth and other mucous membranes. Do not use on fungal or viral skin infections, acne, or untreated skin infections unless specifically advised. Avoid prolonged use, large areas, broken skin, the face, groin and skin folds unless prescribed. Stop using it and seek medical advice if the rash worsens or a severe irritation or allergic reaction develops. Use in children only under medical advice.
