What is it used for?
This combination is used to help reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke and other cardiovascular problems in people with established heart or blood-vessel disease. It also helps lower high cholesterol.

How does it work?
Atorvastatin lowers harmful LDL cholesterol and helps reduce cholesterol build-up in blood vessels. Clopidogrel reduces the stickiness of platelets, helping prevent harmful blood clots.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day if possible. Swallow with water and do not stop taking it without medical advice, especially after a heart procedure or stent. If a dose is missed, follow the instructions provided by the doctor or pharmacist.

Common side effects
Easy bruising or bleeding, indigestion, diarrhoea, nausea, headache and muscle aches may occur.

Precautions
Inform the doctor about any history of bleeding, stomach ulcers, liver disease or muscle problems. Seek medical help for unusual or prolonged bleeding, black stools, vomiting blood, severe muscle pain or dark urine. Tell the doctor or dentist before surgery or dental procedures. Avoid starting other medicines, including painkillers or herbal products, without checking first. This medicine is generally avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless specifically prescribed.
