What is it used for?
Used to treat certain bacterial infections. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
Cefuroxime kills bacteria by interfering with the formation of their protective cell wall. Clavulanic acid helps cefuroxime work against some bacteria that can otherwise resist it.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed by the doctor and complete the prescribed course, even if symptoms improve. Swallow with water and do not take more or less than advised. Do not share this medicine with others.

Common side effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort and headache. Skin rash may also occur.

Precautions
Do not take it if there has been a serious allergy to cefuroxime, other cephalosporins or penicillin-type antibiotics. Inform the doctor about kidney problems or previous antibiotic-related diarrhoea. Seek medical help for breathing difficulty, swelling of the face or throat, severe skin rash, or severe or persistent diarrhoea.
