What is it used for?
Used to treat bacterial infections caused by bacteria susceptible to cefixime and clavulanate. It does not treat viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
Cefixime stops bacteria from building their protective cell wall. Potassium clavulanate blocks certain enzymes made by bacteria that can make them resistant to cefixime.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed and complete the full course, even if symptoms improve. Follow the product label or prescriber's instructions, and do not share leftover antibiotics.

Common side effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, indigestion and headache. Skin rash may also occur.

Precautions
Tell the prescriber about any allergy to cefixime, other cephalosporins or penicillin-type antibiotics, and about kidney or liver problems. Seek medical help for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, a severe rash, persistent or bloody diarrhoea, or yellowing of the skin or eyes.
