What is it used for?
This is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections when prescribed by a healthcare professional. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
Cefpodoxime kills susceptible bacteria by stopping them from forming their protective cell wall. Potassium clavulanate helps cefpodoxime work against certain bacteria that can otherwise resist it.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed and follow the instructions on the label. Complete the prescribed course, even if symptoms improve, and do not share it with others. If a dose is missed, follow the advice provided by the prescriber or pharmacist.

Common side effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain or indigestion, and headache. Skin rash may also occur.

Precautions
Do not use it if there has been a serious allergy to cefpodoxime, other cephalosporin antibiotics, penicillins, or related antibiotics. Inform the prescriber about kidney problems, allergies, pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Seek medical help for severe or persistent diarrhoea, breathing difficulty, facial swelling, or a severe skin rash. Use only for a prescribed bacterial infection.
