What is it used for?
Used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes when one or more diabetes medicines do not provide adequate control. It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

How does it work?
Glimepiride helps the pancreas release more insulin. Metformin reduces glucose production by the liver, while pioglitazone improves the body's sensitivity to insulin.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed, preferably with food. Swallow the sustained-release tablet whole; do not crush or chew it. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice. Monitor blood sugar as advised.

Common side effects
Low blood sugar, nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, loss of appetite, weight gain, swelling of the legs or ankles, and headache may occur.

Precautions
Use only under medical supervision if there is kidney or liver disease, heart failure, swelling, or a history of bladder cancer. Seek urgent help for severe or persistent low blood sugar, unusual tiredness, breathing difficulty, severe abdominal discomfort, or yellowing of the skin or eyes. Avoid excessive alcohol. Inform the doctor if pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Other medicines and illness may affect blood sugar levels.
