What is it used for?
Rosuvastatin is used to lower high cholesterol, particularly LDL (bad) cholesterol, and to reduce cardiovascular risk in eligible patients.
How does it work?
It reduces cholesterol production in the liver, which lowers LDL cholesterol in the blood.
How to take/use it
Take as prescribed by a doctor, with or without food. Do not stop taking it without medical advice.
Common side effects
Headache, nausea, constipation and muscle pain may occur.
Precautions
Inform the doctor about liver or kidney problems, thyroid disorders and other medicines. Seek medical advice promptly for unexplained muscle pain or weakness. Rosuvastatin should generally be avoided during pregnancy.
