What is it used for?
Amoxicillin and cloxacillin are antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections caused by susceptible bacteria. They do not treat viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
Both medicines stop susceptible bacteria from making their protective cell wall, which kills the bacteria and helps clear the infection.

How to take/use it
Take only as prescribed by a doctor. Follow the prescribed timing and complete the full course, even if symptoms improve. Do not share this medicine or use leftover antibiotics. Do not take a dose more often or for longer than prescribed.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort and skin rash may occur.

Precautions
Do not use if there has been a serious allergy to penicillin or related antibiotics. Seek medical help for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, severe rash or severe or persistent diarrhoea. Tell the doctor about kidney or liver problems and any previous antibiotic-related allergic reaction. Use only when prescribed, as unnecessary antibiotic use can cause resistance.
