What is it used for?
ORS liquid is used to prevent and treat dehydration caused by diarrhoea, vomiting, or loss of fluids and salts. It replaces the water and electrolytes the body loses.

How does it work?
It contains a balanced combination of water, salts and glucose. These help the intestine absorb fluids and electrolytes more effectively.

How to take/use it
Take by mouth as supplied, in small, frequent sips. Do not dilute or mix it with other drinks unless the product label directs. Follow the storage and use instructions on the pack, and do not use it if it is past its expiry date.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, bloating or stomach discomfort may occur, especially if taken too quickly.

Precautions
Seek medical advice if there is severe dehydration, persistent vomiting, blood in the stool, confusion, very little urine, or inability to drink. People with kidney disease, heart failure, or other conditions requiring fluid or salt restriction should use it only on medical advice. Infants, young children and older adults may need prompt medical assessment if dehydration is suspected.
