What is it used for?
Nimesulide is used for short-term relief of pain, inflammation and fever, such as pain affecting the muscles, joints or other parts of the body. It should be used only when prescribed, as it may cause serious liver problems in some people.

How does it work?
It reduces the production of substances called prostaglandins that cause pain, swelling and fever.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, preferably after food, with water. Do not take more than recommended or use it for longer than advised. Avoid taking it with other painkillers or anti-inflammatory medicines unless a doctor recommends this.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain, indigestion, dizziness and skin rash may occur.

Precautions
Avoid use if there is liver disease or a previous serious reaction to nimesulide. Tell the doctor about stomach ulcers or bleeding, kidney or heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma triggered by painkillers, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Avoid excessive alcohol. Stop the medicine and seek medical help for yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, unusual tiredness, severe stomach pain, black stools, breathing difficulty or swelling.
