What is it used for?
Nimesulide is used for short-term relief of pain, swelling and inflammation, such as muscle or joint pain, toothache, period pain and other acute painful conditions. It may also help reduce fever when prescribed.

How does it work?
It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine (NSAID). It reduces the production of substances in the body that cause pain, swelling and fever.

How to take/use it
Take it only as prescribed, preferably with or after food. Use the lowest effective amount for the shortest period advised. Do not take more than recommended or combine it with other painkillers without medical advice.

Common side effects
Nausea, stomach pain or indigestion, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness and skin rash may occur.

Precautions
Do not use it without medical advice if there is liver disease, a history of stomach ulcer or bleeding, severe kidney or heart problems, or an allergy to NSAIDs. Avoid alcohol and other medicines that may affect the liver. Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding; it should not be used in the last three months of pregnancy. Stop it and seek medical help for yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, severe abdominal pain, unusual bleeding, breathing difficulty or a serious skin reaction.
