What is it used for?
Gentamicin is an antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections, especially infections caused by certain gram-negative bacteria. It is generally used only when prescribed by a doctor.

How does it work?
It stops susceptible bacteria from making essential proteins, which prevents them from growing and helps clear the infection.

How to take/use it

Common side effects

Tell the doctor about kidney disease, hearing or balance problems, dehydration, pregnancy, or neuromuscular disorders. Kidney function and, when needed, blood levels, hearing and balance may require monitoring. Use caution with other medicines that can affect the kidneys, hearing or nervous system. Seek medical advice promptly for reduced urination, swelling, unusual weakness, ringing in the ears, hearing loss or severe dizziness.
