What is it used for?
Disodium hydrogen citrate is used to make urine less acidic. It may help relieve burning or discomfort during urination and may be used as part of treatment for uric acid kidney stones or gout, as advised by a doctor.
How does it work?
It is converted into alkaline substances in the body, which increase the pH of urine and reduce its acidity.
How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed by the doctor or pharmacist. If supplied as a liquid, measure the dose carefully and dilute it only as directed. Do not change the dose or treatment duration without medical advice.
Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, diarrhoea, or a bloated feeling may occur.
Precautions
