What is it used for?
Fexofenadine is used to relieve allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny or itchy nose, and itchy or watery eyes. It may also be used to relieve itching and hives (urticaria).
How does it work?
It is an antihistamine that blocks the action of histamine, a substance released during an allergic reaction. This helps reduce allergy symptoms and itching.
How to take/use it
Take it exactly as directed on the package or by a doctor. Swallow the tablet with water. Avoid taking it with fruit juice, as this may reduce its effect. If using aluminium- or magnesium-containing antacids, separate them from fexofenadine as advised by a healthcare professional.
Common side effects
Headache, nausea, dizziness, and mild drowsiness may occur.
Precautions
Tell a doctor or pharmacist if there is kidney disease, pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Do not take it if allergic to fexofenadine or any of its ingredients. Seek medical advice if symptoms are severe, persistent, or worsening.
