What is it used for?
Povidone iodine 5% is generally used as an antiseptic to help prevent infection in minor cuts, grazes and superficial wounds, and to disinfect the skin.

How does it work?
It slowly releases iodine, which kills or reduces many types of germs, including bacteria, fungi and viruses, on the skin.

How to take/use it
For external use only. Clean the affected area and apply the product as directed on the label or by a healthcare professional. Do not swallow it or use it in the eyes unless the product is specifically meant for eye use.

Common side effects
Temporary skin irritation, redness, dryness or burning may occur. Rarely, allergic reactions can occur.

Precautions
Avoid use if allergic to povidone iodine or iodine-containing products. Do not use repeatedly over large areas, deep wounds or severe burns unless advised by a healthcare professional.
