What is it used for?
Povidone iodine 10% is an antiseptic used on the skin to clean and disinfect minor cuts, scrapes and burns and help prevent infection.
How does it work?
It slowly releases iodine, which kills many types of bacteria, viruses and fungi on the skin.
How to take/use it
For external use only. Clean the affected area and apply as directed on the product label or by a healthcare professional. Do not swallow it or apply it inside the body. Avoid contact with the eyes.
Common side effects
Mild skin irritation, redness, itching or dryness may occur. Stop using it and seek medical help if severe irritation or signs of an allergic reaction develop.
Precautions
Do not use if allergic to povidone iodine or iodine. Avoid prolonged or repeated use over large areas, especially in people with thyroid problems. Seek medical advice before use on deep wounds, severe burns, or in infants, during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Keep away from the eyes and mouth.
