What is it used for?
Etoricoxib is used to reduce pain, swelling and inflammation in conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and acute gout. The specific condition and treatment duration should be decided by a doctor.

How does it work?
It selectively blocks COX-2 enzymes involved in producing prostaglandins, substances that cause pain and inflammation.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, preferably at the same time each day. It may be taken with or without food. Do not take more than prescribed or combine it with other painkillers such as ibuprofen, diclofenac or naproxen unless advised by a doctor.

Common side effects
Indigestion, stomach pain, nausea, headache, dizziness, swelling of the feet or legs and increased blood pressure may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor before use if there is a history of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, stomach ulcer or bleeding, kidney disease, liver disease or allergy to painkillers. It may increase the risk of heart attack, stroke, fluid retention and stomach bleeding, especially with long-term or high-dose use. Avoid use during pregnancy unless specifically prescribed. Seek medical help for chest pain, breathing difficulty, black stools, severe skin reactions or swelling of the face or throat.
